Schedule of services
There are 3 churches in the Intercession (Pokrovsky) Monastery: the Cathedral of the Resurrection of the Blessed Christ, a two-storeyed Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and a small church of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom (it is in a single complex with the monastery hotel).
Services are performed every day in the Resurrection Cathedral of the monastery, except for some patronal feasts.
In the Intercession Church, at the relics of the blessed Matrona, prayers are served daily after the liturgy (on the weekdays the prayer begins at around 9am, on Sunday at about 10:30am).
Weekdays
7:30am — Liturgy
4:45pm – Evening service (the 9th hour, vespers and matins with the 1st hour)
Sundays
6:15am – Early Liturgy
9:00am – Late Liturgy
The day before at 4:45pm – the all-night vigil (the 9th hour, vespers and matins with the 1st hour)
On weekdays of the Great Lent, the evening service starts at 4:00pm.
The Divine Service are performed according to a special schedule, which you can check with the administrator on: Easter, Christmas, the Intercession of the Virgin Mary day, the days of the memory of the Blessed Matrona of the Moscow.
Monastery patronal feast days
Church services in day of a holiday are also the night before made in that temple where there is a side-altar consecrated in honor of a holiday. Upon termination of the Divine liturgy the religious procession is usually made (dates are specified on new style).
Voskresensky temple:
On September 26 – the central side-altar in honor of Slovushchego’s Revival (church services are made on an easter rank);
On July 9 – the left side-altar in honor of the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God;
On March 8, on May 2, on November 22 – the right side-altar in honor of blessed Matrona of Moscow (in this side-altar the night liturgy is usually made).
In Voskresensk the temple there are shrines:
– an icon of Kyiv Pechersk Saints with particles of relics;
– right hand of the blessed queen Feofaniya;
– an icon of the Reverend Seraphim of Sarov and Diveevsky Saints with particles of relics (Saint wives of Diveevskiye – Aleksandra, Marfa, Elena, blissful – Paraskeva, Pelagia, Maria);
– An icon with a particle of relics of the prelate Innokenti, Metropolitan of Moscow;
– an icon with a particle of relics of the prelate Ioann Shankhaysky;
– 2 arks with different shrines.
Pokrovsk temple (2nd floor):
On October 14 – the central side-altar in honor of the Intercession of the Theotokos;
On July 12 – the right side-altar in honor the pervoverkhovnykh of apostles Pyotr and Pavel;
On May 22, on December 19 – the left side-altar in honor of the prelate Nicholas The Wonderworker.
Pokrovsk temple (1 floor):
On April 13, on June 28 – the central side-altar in honor of the prelate Jonah, miters. Moscow and всея Russia, wonder-worker;
On November 3 – the right side-altar in honor of the Reverend Hilarion the Great;
On June 9, on December 20 – the left side-altar in honor of the Reverend Nilus of Stolobny.
In the Pokrovsk temple there are shrines:
The main shrine of monastery – honest relics of blessed Matrona of Moscow.
Icon with a particle of relics of the Reverend Nilus of Stolobny in honor of whom one of thrones of the Pokrovsk temple is consecrated.
The icon of the Mother of God “Collecting the dead” written on blessing of the blessed Matron.
Icon of the prelate Nikolay Mirlikiysky of the wonder-worker with a particle of relics (on the 2nd floor).
The temple in honor of Saints Pyotr and Fevroniya Muromskikh
Patronal feast days – on July 8 and Sunday before September 19 – days of remembrance of Saints blessed Pyotr and Fevroniya.
The temple is included into a uniform complex with monastic hotel, the Sacraments of baptism and Weddings are made here.
On March 8, 2013 the Most Saint Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia KIRILL has made solemn laying of the capsule in foundation of the temple chapel in honor of Saints blessed Pyotr and Fevroniya Muromskikh who historically existed behind a fencing of monastery and has been destroyed in days of hard times.
On February 27, 2014 on blessing of the Most Saint Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia KIRILL, the temple in honor свв. Pyotr and Fevroniya has been consecrated by the archbishop Sergiyevo-Posadsky Theognostus.
The baptistery of the temple is equipped with a baptistery for a baptism of adults. Many people who for the first time have come to the Pokrovsk monastery to Matronushka make subsequently the decision to be christened and profess Orthodoxy.
Marriage sacrament – one of 7 church Sacraments. Many couples decide to cast in the lot under cover of the Queen Nebesnoy. After the Wedding all newlyweds are surely put to blessed Matronushka’s relics and ask her blessings on family life.
Farmsteads of the Pokrovsk monastery
In the years which have passed since the beginning of revival of the Pokrovsk monastery, the monastery has found three farmsteads: in the village of Markovo of Ramensky district of the Moscow region, and 2 in Moscow: Saint just blessed Matrona of Moscow’s temple on Varshavskoye Highway and the temple of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Troitse-Lykove. You can visit temples, having ordered an excursion, to bow to shrines and closer to get acquainted with life of monasteries.
Church of Our Lady of Kazan – a farmstead in the village of Markovo
On blessing of the Most Saint Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II in June, 1999 the ancient temple of the 17th century in honor of the Kazan icon of Blessed Virgin Mary which is almost destroyed in days of hard times has been transferred in quality of a farmstead of the reviving Pokrovsk monastery. With the God’s help by 2004 the temple managed to be restored, the sisterly case, economic rooms have been constructed, the subsidiary farm is adjusted. Now the farmstead prospers, in the temple church services for which residents of many neighboring villages and summer residents who thanks to the developed area infrastructure (to a farmstead the road is carried out) become more and more gather are regularly made. In the temple the Sacraments of baptism, Weddings are made. The main shrine – Saint just blessed Matrona of Moscow’s icon with a particle of relics.
Unfortunately, because of load of roads situated near Moscow to conduct a tour to a farmstead quite difficult (the way one way sometimes borrows till 4 o’clock in traffic jams) therefore we suggest our guests to visit two other monastic farmsteads located in Moscow.
Saint just blessed Matrona of Moscow’s temple
Saint just blessed Matrona of Moscow’s temple – the first temple built in Moscow in honor of a great chudotvoritsa. It is constructed on crossing of Varshavskoye Highway and MKAD (32nd kilometer). Great consecration of the temple has been made on February 27, 2010 by the Archbishop of Istra Arseny, the First Vicar to His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
On May 1, 2010 the temple was visited by the Most Saint Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia KIRILL. Having examined all constructions, the temple and the place where the Sacrament of baptism is made, Pervosvyatitel has noted need of construction of similar temples of step availability for all large cities of Russia. The building is small, it is built in tent style, in the cellar there is a baptistery for a baptism of adults with full immersion. Many people passing by come here to pray to blessed Matronushka for the safe road, family affairs, ask consolations in griefs.
Some even accept the Sacred Epiphany, get married, and then christen children. This small island of a prayer among the raging steam of cars grants a joy and peace of mind. On a farmstead nuns of the Pokrovsk monastery constantly live.
In the temple there is Saint just blessed Matrona of Moscow’s icon with a particle of relics.

The temple of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Troitse-Lykove
On blessing of the Most Saint Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia KIRILL in April, 2013 the Moscow arrival of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Troitse-Lykove has been transferred to the Pokrovsk monastery for organization of a monastic farmstead (Region of Strogino). In the territory of arrival two temples are located: the operating temple of the Dormition of the Theotokos, and an ancient cathedral of the Zhivonachalny Trinity which is on restoration so far.
On May 4, 2013, on the Holy Saturday, the Most Saint Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill has visited the temple of the Dormition of the Theotokos in the Trinity – Lykovo.
In the word the Most Saint Patriarch Kirill has reported that this temple has received the status подворьья the Pokrovsk monastery that, according to the Holy Father, spiritual life of parishioners “was carried out on Saint just Matrona of Moscow’s prayers, a great chudotvoritsa here”. Now on a farmstead sisters of the monastery constantly live, church services, and also the Sacraments of baptism, Weddings are regularly made. The cozy monastic refectory is open for parishioners, the playground is equipped. Many residents of the Region of Strogino come families here to have a rest not only spiritually, but also physically. Thanks to proximity of the park it is easily breathed here, and the territory and the temple of the Assumption are open daily from 08:00 till 19:00.
